fetch failed — at Initial Version

Description
I tried to install aquaterm, gnuplot, rxvt. Each attempt to port gave a list of "Attempting to fetch..." then
Error: Target org.macports.fetch returned: fetch failed Error: The following dependencies failed to build: <list here> Error: Status 1 encountered during processing
I tried sudo port selfupdate and sudo port sync to try and rectify this.
