After installing each code, attempting to run either of them resulted in: (I typed this info by hand . . . )
dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib Referenced from: /opt/local/lib/libXm.4.dylib Reason: Incompatible library version: libXm.4.dylib requires version 8.0.0 or later, but libiconv.2.dylib provides version 7.0.0

The most common reason for that error is that your libiconv port is installed for the wrong architecture. And the most common reason for that is that you have migrated to Snow Leopard from an earlier OS but have not yet reinstalled all your ports. Is that possible? See the Migration page for more details.
