Installed Mavericks Preview 6 on my MacBook Air. Ran "sudo port -v selfupdate" successfully. Tried to run "sudo port upgrade outdated", but it failed (see attached log). From your main.log:

sh: /usr/bin/gnutar: No such file or directory

does /usr/bin/gnutar exist in your installation? Is this possibly a system that you upgraded where you did not follow the migration instructions?

I did not realize there was a migration process that needed to be followed. I upgraded to OS X from Mountain Lion to Mavericks Preview 6 ... but did not do anything special to MacPorts before doing "sudo port -v selfupdate" which then asked me to do "sudo port upgrade outdated".

I will read those Migration Instructions and attempt to use MacPorts again on OS X Mavericks.

So where am I supposed to get a Mavericks version of the MacPorts install package? I looked in https://distfiles.macports.org/MacPorts/ but there is nothing there for Mavericks.

There is no install package for 10.9. Install from source.

Yes, there will. Give us a couple of days while we determine whether any source code fixes should be packaged for Mavericks.

Great!

Let me know if I can help besides trying to perform the upgrade, following the docs and report back :)
