Description

We are getting spam tickets on a daily basis. Is there anything we can do to try to prevent bots from signing up for Trac accounts?

I just logged out so I could look at the "register" page, and currently all it asks you for is an email address and password... no CAPTCHA, no "are you a human" checkbox, nothing else like that... so there still is a bunch of stuff that could be added.

I would like to at least have email verification (Trac sends you an email, you click a link to verify it's really you), if we don't have that already, and also Captcha. How can we add these? Are these Trac plugins we need to install? Can I as Trac admin do it, or would Bill or Shree have to do it?

I just created a new test account. There was no captcha though. The only thing that happened was an email conformation.

And indeed a new spam ticket appeared #43898.

We are still getting spam tickets. I assume captcha did not get enabled?

I doubt spam will be a problem now that we require GitHub login. We also have a new "Report Spam" button in the upper right of every page.
