Per your log, there was an error interpreting the encryption of the Snort web server: 

:notice:fetch --->  Attempting to fetch daq-2.0.4.tar.gz from https://www.snort.org/downloads/snort/
:debug:fetch Fetching distfile failed: error:14077410:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:sslv3 alert handshake failure

Our buildbot builders had this problem too, as did I on a secondary machine running an older version of OS X, but I did not see the problem on the Yosemite machine where I did the update.

Could you report this problem to the administrators of Snort's web server so that they can fix it?
