emacs-mac-app 7.4: error on clean installation

I just installed Mac Ports on a new installation of High Sierra, and attempted to install emacs-mac-app (with variants +rsvg +imagemagick). After the usual minor issues with graphviz, it got to the stage where it was installing the main package, but died with an error message:

Error: Failed to build emacs-mac-app: command execution failed
Error: See /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_Users_stanton_scratch_macports_macports-ports_aqua_emacs-mac-app/emacs-mac-app/main.log for details.
Error: Follow https://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets to report a bug.
Error: Processing of port emacs-mac-app failed

I've tried numerous times, with the same result, and I can install other ports fine.
