    1 Using a bleeding-edge wxMaxima is not critical for me. The latest binaries I can download from sourceforge don't run on my system, either. TBH, that I have managed this long with an obsolete system is gratifying. With Sage(math), maxima runs in a jupyter notebook environment, too, but I like the 1990's feel of wxMaxima for nostalgia's sake.
