I can confirm that vala does build successfully with no tweaks.
36-9:~ arjuna$ port -v installed vala The following ports are currently installed: vala @0.52.5_0 (active) requested_variants='' platform='darwin 9' archs='ppc' date='2021-12-13T05:14:47+0800'

Replying to barracuda156:

However it either is faulty or extremely slow. Basically anything involving vapigen hangs forever.
Can anyone confirm if it works normally or broken for everyone / for everyone on ppc?

Last weekend I could upgrade to vala @0.54.7_0
on PPC Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5.8)…

@barracuda156, can you confirm whether this is still an issue for you?

vala
itself builds, I have just upgraded to @0.56.0, however vapigen
does not seem functional. Is there some trivial port just to check if it works?
- S. And what I am interested to know is whether you can use
vala
to build something else on PPC.vala
itself builds with no tweaks for me.

As an example: libosinfo
build freezes on:
GEN libosinfo-1.0.vapi
I also cannot upgrade gexiv2
and gcr
to the latest versions.

FYI, I've enabled tests for vala
and vala-devel
.
Based on local testing, you can expect some failures. But might give us more insight into the issue(s) you're dealing with. (If you choose to provide us with the logs, please attach them, rather than pasting the entire contents into a comment.)
