    1 Please ignore my last post.  With the +universal variant, Macports is building a 32-bit/64-bit binary.  But one must use the "file" command on the binary to verify this.

    33So the proposed port is working as expected.  But I am still wondering if it is a good idea to change "CC = gcc" to "CC ?= gcc" in the Makefile via an additional patch.
