7		P.S. As for the line CC = gcc in the Makefile. I was told on my first port submission (codegroup) that it does not make a difference if one uses CC = gcc or CC ?= gcc in the Makefile as far as Macports is concerned. Apparently, Macports can override the CC variable. This is not difficult. One just needs to pass the the new value for CC with the make command. e.g. `make CC=gcc`.
