    33I personally am just about ready to abandon this plan completely, and just clear configure.sdk_version in all the qt5 and qmake5 PortGroups and Portfiles, and let the port build with --sdk macosx all the time, and be done with it.

     7I may be to leave things alone, and require that uses install the system-specific SDK in the SDKs folder to be supported by MacPorts, which is a fair requirement.
