    7 So as for advice on how you might actually proceed for now -- frankly -- just give up on kdelibs4 on an arm Mac on MacPorts.

    9 It's been more than 3 years and nobody has fixed gtk3 to build universal on an M1 system, and even if they did, KDE4 is hopelessly out of date.

    11 If you instead install UTM (https://mac.getutm.app) which is free, and then install debian 12 for arm64, you can install a full KDE5 Plasma setup using WayLand in a few minutes that will be much newer in every way and will actually work.
