i wanted to install the curl command just so you know i DID copy and paste but i got an error message
Here is the error message:
sudo: port: command not found
please fix this!

Sounds like the PATH environment variable is not set up properly in your shell. The MacPorts installer should have set it up for you but if not, you can do it manually. See https://guide.macports.org/#installing.shell
