    33That is -- not terribly hard to do. You can set up custom compilers in macports.conf. But OOTH, it's an extra step too, and you need to keep your wits about you.

     5There will no doubt be some bootstrapping headaches I haven't begun to address...those may prove overwhelming or even insurmountable to automate...what you would do manually is install clang-17 first, then set your deployment target and sdk and arrange to avoid “clang” in macports.conf, after clang-17 is installed. You may need to rebuild some clang dep as 10.13 if you need it for gimp.

    77I still say that a VM or a dedicated machine is your better option, but indeed, as is usual with MacPorts, with perseverance there is generally a way.
