Description

Hi

I'm stuck behind a firewall, with no rsync, no cvsup. I read through www.darwinports.org/getdp/ and am trying to update my dports tree by pulling down http://www.darwinports.org/downloads/darwinports-nightly-cvs-snapshot.tar.gz.

However I'm at a loss to understand how to proceed from there. The /getdp page says "Once extracted, you can keep it up to date with the usual “cvs update” commands."

I've had a look at the cvs manpage and am trying to understand how to take the changes in the unpacked darwinports/ directory tree and apply them to my /opt/local/var/db/dports tree. Do I have to set CVSROOT to /my/home/dir/darwinports/dports/ or something and then issue "cvs update" from within /opt/local/var/db/dports?

Is it possible to use this kind of approach to track a specific release tag ?

I'm sure there are other people in this kind of jam, can we work together to find a path that works and then fix up the documentation?
