Description
After installing the XEmacs port from DarwinPorts (version 21.4.17_2), starting XEmacs generates the error "Error in init file: Symbol's function definition is void: read-kbd-macro". According to various reports on the Internet (links below), this is characteristic of an XEmacs installation missing the base packages. Indeed, a search of the /opt directory for files ending in ".el" and containing the string "read-kbd-macro" returns no results.
aarre@129-79-195-194 /opt $ find . -name "*.el" | grep "read-kbd-macro"
Installing XEmacs from Fink solves the problem ;-)
