1.  Rationalize emacs modes across various Emacsen

2.  Figure out how to keep intermediate variables in a Portfile (basically just need a better understanding of how TCL is interpreting the Portfile).  This bug prevents the current version of lang/slime from working in two passes, i.e. invoking "port configure" followed by a "port install" will fail, as the variables setup in the "configure" target are not re-initialized in the second invocation.
