Description
On the gimp homepage, it says that the latest stable version is 2.2, but the version available from macports is 2.3 - the unstable development version.
I had previously installed the 2.2 version, but unfortunately blindly did a "port upgrade" instead of a "port install", which leaves me with no functioning version of gimp. When I try to start gimp, the splash screen hangs on loading script-fu, and one of my processors pegs out until I do a Ctrl-C in the X-terminal to kill the process.
I understand having the latest development version available, but it there really no stable version available?
I see that I still have a tgz of the previous version /opt/local/var/macports/packages/darwin/i386/gimp2-2.2.13_0+darwin_i386.i386.tgz, but I don't know how to (or if it's possible to) install from that, or if it would leave my ports in an unstable state if I just copied the /opt/ files out from that .tgz into the filesystem.
Thanks, Brian
