No, I got no response. The distfile on the dashpc site above is a disk image, so it's probably a binary. We could change the port to install that, but it seems to be dead software so we should probably just nuke it.

Eli Stair complained via personal email of this port's deletion, and pointed us to its new homepage: http://homepage.mac.com/mdales/osx2x/
I'll reinstate the port.

The new home page doesn't contain any source downloads. A Google Code project was created, but there are no downloads there either and the repository there is empty. Eli is trying to email the developer about this.

Homepage still says 'repo being moved' and google code has no downloads, no files in svn.

It looks like the source code has reappeared here:

I brought the port back in r41346. Note that it doesn't build for me. On 10.4 Intel it fails because the project references the 10.5 SDK. And on 10.5 PPC it fails because it tries to build universal and references openssl in the 10.5 SDK, which seems to only be a PPC stub library on my system, hence can't be used to build the i386 part. What we need to do is instruct the port not to build universal unless requested via the +universal variant, and then to use the SDK defined in macports.conf, and ideally to use the MacPorts versions of openssl, not Apple's. I'm not sufficiently well-versed in Xcode projects to make this happen, so I leave it to anyone else who is to fix the port.

How do you know osx2x has been discontinued? The listed homepage is on the now-offline opendarwin.org servers, but perhaps the author has moved the software somewhere else. I found an old copy of the software here and I have emailed the author asking if the software is still available at a new URL.
