Gah - forgot to add myself to CC on this ticket, so I'll never find out if it gets closed. Can somebody (perhaps ryandesign) do this please?

You can't add yourself to the Cc list?
Why didn't you just attach this patch to #12587 instead of opening a new ticket for the same issue?

Hi,
In a typical trac installation, anyone with a login can add himself to a ticket's CC list, or change ticket subject lines, e.g. to helpfully prefix them with "[UPDATE]" according to the MacPorts ticket conventions.
The macports trac installation allows neither convenience for contributors; presumably committers are granted the appropriate rights.
I hope this response answers both your questions. I'll assume you didn't intend to sound discourteous or ungrateful, and that you simply didn't know how restricted the contributor logins are. Please let me know if I can be of any further help.
Best wishes,
-Steve

Once applied, this will mean that #12587 can be closed.
