Description
I've just upgraded boehmgc to version 7.0, and inkscape will no longer start (hangs on startup, no splash screen, 99+% processor use in top). Looking at the inkscape projects bug reports, it seems there have been similar problems with gc on SUSE.
Many thanks,
-Mike

I tested it with boehmgc 6.7 and it works like a charm. Honestly, the lack of communication in bug reports is a bit disturbing. 3 months and no one said anything. Even a "Won't be fixed" would be better than this.

It really seems like boehmgc should be downgraded back to 6.8, at least for the time being.

Inkscape does work with boehmgc-devel 7.1alpha2 installed.

The same problem appears in w3m. It also hangs half of the time, and it also stalls sometimes on compilation. See bug #12979. It seems that boehmgc 7.0 has some problem with multithreaded programs.
