giflib and libungif fail to fetch

i am not able to install Libungif. I get the following error: Error: Target org.macports.fetch returned: fetch failed

This is because the libungif project on Sourceforge has been closed down and moved to giflib. This also affects the giflib port.

I just tested the fix for Ticket #13248 (defect). I still get the same error. Here it is:

I am using Powerbook 10.4 just for the record.

You need to update your ports tree. Please:

sudo port selfupdate

Then you should be able to fetch and install these ports. Remember to selfupdate often to make sure you always have the latest versions of MacPorts and the port definitions.
