When trying to install apt, I could not fetch apt_0.5.27.tar.gz.

Version which seems to exist with a version for the powerpc is apt_0.5.28. 

sudo port -v install apt

Note that even 0.5.28 is extremely out of date. The latest version is 0.8.0 as of this writing.

I'm no longer the apt maintainer; someone else is free to pick this up. Arguably I haven't been the apt maintainer in 5 years, if the age of this bug is any indication.

apt: Remove outdated and abandoned port

The port has not seen version updates in almost 10 years and open
tickets have not seen new comments in 4 years. The port does not compile
in its current form. As there is no interest to fix this port, let's
remove it.
