I'm unsure if this cvs stuff is a good idea: It will propably break sometimes and I'll get complains about this... (yeah, I know that ntop is currently not working on panther)
also this will crate havoc if we come up with more variants as some of those will not work with both, the current-cvs and the normal distribution.

is there a standard way to handle pre-release or devel version other than variant on dports ?
or to make a variant, exclude all others.
ntop2.2 is considered very old by ntop developers and not maintained. until now, i work on it mainly about openbsd compat. but more, my build with devel variant works on panther (10.3.2) (cvs from 3 or 4 days)
problem with ntop, they doesn't provide a tar for all devel release: last on sourceforge is 2.2.95, last one is 2.2.98. and daily snapshot files are not really better, i think)

huh, I'm not sure if we do have something for pre-release stuff...
I'd prefer if we checkout e. g. version 2.2.98 from cvs and put a tar.gz/tar.bz2 of this onto the darwin servers; then we could update the whole port to version 2.2.98.
