I apologize in advance if this is not the correct place to request a new port.
I am requesting xsel be made available via Mac Ports. The web page for this package is http://www.kfish.org/software/xsel/

This is the right place to ask for new ports, though things usually go quicker if you can write the portfile and attach it to the ticket. The Guide is a good place to learn how to write ports, as is looking at some of the existing ports.
I added a port for xsel in r39925 and it seemed to work in brief testing on Mac OS X 10.4.11 on Intel. Let me know if you need anything else.
