Port: | qemu-usermode qemu |
Description
qemu 0.9.1 is available so you may want to update the qemu-usermode port to that version.
When you do so, you should also add the line "dist_subdir qemu
" so that the download goes to the same directory as the qemu port.

Hi, I'm thinking into a merge between qemu and qemu-usermode which will provide usermode as a variant. I'm working to the Portfile but please can someone help me to refresh, if is still needed, the patch-q-i386 of qemu-usermode port?

FYI: Ports should generally be updated to final versions of software, not release candidates.

You tried to install qemu-usermode with port? I have a mac intel, and it require gcc-3.3 that doesn't work properly in a mac intel...

Markus, can you please comment on why you did not originally go that route when you added the qemu-usermode port in r27270? Is there any reason why this change should not be made now?

My original goal with qemu-usermode was to use it for building universal binaries for more stubborn ports (building in an ppc emulator when building on an x86); unfortunately this didn't work out so well for multiple reasons, so I'm currently not against a merger of the two ports!

Hi, I absolutely have to use qemu-usermode, what do yuo think is the best mode to do that? Now I take the 0.10.5 version of qemu and I'm trying to compile it from source code modifying the wrong part of the code (thata is the part of usermode that is not maintened), you think is the correct and faster mode?

add i386_darwin_user and ppc_darwin_user variants to qemu

The attached should work, but due to upstream brokenness (as of 1.0.1), doesn't. I don't know if any of it is fixed in 1.1.0.

The targets for darwin-user
have been removed from upstream qemu in
Markus (mww@), I suggest to remove the qemu-usermode port completely.
