The following work around will fix it but it should not be that way:
sudo -l ln -s /usr/X11/lib/libSM* /opt/local/lib

That's odd; is the xorg-libsm port installed? It should have been installed either by startup-notification or xorg-libs (which should all be brought in during the install of gnome-session).
