Description
I'm attempting to install Darwin Ports and install fails with message: The following step failed: run postflight script for MacPort-1.6.0.
Any advice?

1.7 has been out for over a month now, so install that instead (which also happens to fix most issues with postflight); see the install page for the DMGs.
Also, FYI, it's been called MacPorts for well over two years now...
