The port "tor" need a LaunchDaemon.

I noticed vidalia (non-macport) installs a StartupItem, so maybe that is better than a LaunchDaemon. Either way, +1 for needing this.

StartupItems are deprecated, LaunchDaemons are supposed to replace them

This kind of StartupItem is a MacPorts feature that generates a launchd plist.

This kind of StartupItem is a MacPorts feature that generates a launchd plist.
I assumed that because dargo was referring to a non-MacPorts thing, and because he was referring to StartupItems in contrast to LaunchDaemons as opposed to treating them as the same thing, that therefore he was referring to the other kind of StartupItems, not the MacPorts kind...
