Description
I was using Portauthority to install Octave. It died at the end. I think the problem was with texlive_base. I tried to install texlive_base by itself and got the same message. I attached the log I got.

First part of log is with the Octave (GCC43) attempt and the second is just trying to install texlive_base.

Forgot something: using Porticus, Leopard 10.5.6 Problem Hotlist directories deleted /usr/X11R6 1/ and cleaned ports but forgot to delete /usr/lib/ruby 1/ ... will retry.

The new attempt yielded a successful installation of texlive_base and then a successful installation of octave with the GCC43 compiler set.
No errors were reported.

I think the build tools are getting confused by the "/usr/local (from old Mac) 2/lib" path in there. Why it's picking it up in the first place is a definite mystery.
