Good morning! I'd eventually like to submit another portfile that depends on log4cplus. So if there's anything I can do to help get this portfile merged, please let me know. Thank you to the MacPorts maintainers for all their good work.

My apologies for omitting the ticket's body.
log4cplus is a third-party reimplementation of log4j in C++. The two other ports are log4cpp and log4cxx. This particular port is actively maintained, and doesn't rely on the Apache Portable Runtime.
This port would probably go under devel/log4cplus, if existing ports are any indication.
