#19868 closed defect (invalid)
OpenSSL conflict with zlib architecture
Reported by: | ari@… | Owned by: | mww@… |
---|---|---|---|
Priority: | Normal | Milestone: | |
Component: | ports | Version: | 1.7.1 |
Keywords: | openssl x86_64 | Cc: | |
Port: | openssl |
Description (last modified by mf2k (Frank Schima))
When installing the openssl port under 10.6, there is this error:
Command output: ld: warning: in /opt/local/lib/libz.dylib, file is not of required architecture
I can see that:
/opt/local/lib/libz.dylib: Mach-O 64-bit dynamically linked shared library x86_64
I assume openssl is being compiled as 32bit, causing the problem and in fact I can see "-arch i386" in the compile parameters. Setting "universal_archs x86_64" didn't help.

A couple things to note:
(1) You're hopefully running trunk MacPorts - it has better SL support than 1.7.1. (2) If you have any suggestions for improving SL support, you can email me privately... I'm working on a few small changes that should help mitigate issues like this.

Actually I am running 1.7.1, so I'll try getting to trunk. Ironically the port I'm trying to install is subversion, so that might take a little doing.
I'm not clear why this port was just closed. How does that help anyone? At some point SL will be released and then you'll need to fix the problem in a hurry. Wouldn't you prefer to hear about them and fix them in advance?

A pleasant surprise: svn is included in SL with the developer tools. So I upgraded to trunk of macports and all installed fine. So thank you, this task can indeed remain closed if 1.8 will be targetted to SL when it is released.

If you have access to Snow Leopard at the moment you and others are bound to a NDA. I don't know the exact terms as I did not sign it. But discussing SL in public could be a problem for the reporters as they could (accidentally) disclose confidential information.
SnowLeopard is obviously not (yet) supported.
