#21239 closed defect (worksforme)

git-core 1.6.4.2 +svn +doc gitk doesn't allow editing

Reported by: hahn.seb@… Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 1.8.0
Keywords: gitk Cc: bryan@…, maccheck@…
Port: git-core

Description

When using gitk which is installed by the git-core port, I noticed that I cannot use any of its editing capabilities. When I right-click, the window just refreshes its current view without giving a context menu or anything of the like.

Is this a configuration option somewhere, or how can I fix?

Thanks

What system version are you running? I cannot reproduce your issue on OS X 10.5.8 and I have got almost the the same port installation:

git-core @1.6.4.2_0+bash_completion+doc+svn

Running Snow Leopard, but had the same issue on Leopard

Ah, I have another idea, do you have the "tk" port installed? If I install that port, gitk doesn't launch anymore for me, but maybe that's a SL problem and with the tk port, it worked in Leopard?

Other ideas to track this down?

I have installed: tk @8.5.6_1

I won't be able to test that issue on SL before the weekend (SL resides still in a test installation).

hrm. I figured it out. http://wiki.tcl.tk/12987 section 7.2 and 7.3... It appears that on my MacBook without an external 3-button mouse, I can't get this to work because I can't emulate the right-click with my trackpad... damn, that's inconvenient. Can you confirm that you're using the middle mouse button for context menus?

Any ideas how to solve that?

No, I was using the right button sensor of my Mighty Mouse. But you are able to simulate a right click on a MacBook trackpad by enabling the two-finger press gesture.
