Description
Trying to build speex universal for ppc/i386 on Leopard gets me this error:
ld warning: in ./.libs/libspeex.dylib, file is not of required architecture

I see the same when trying x86_64/i386 universal on Snow Leopard, but note that speex-devel @1.2rc1 works fine, so this may resolve itself when 1.2 final is released and the speex port is updated to that version.

I'll look into it as soon as I get my Macbook repaired, maybe more than a couple of weeks though. Please feel free to add openmaintainer to this port meanwhile.

Since the code has already been fixed upstream, the only thing you really need to work on is getting the developers of this software to release 1.2 final. It's been almost two years since they put out 1.2rc1, which they should be considering releasing as 1.2 final more or less as is (since that's what "release candidate" means) and not substantially rewriting it as they seem to be planning.

Resolved by updating speex to 1.2rc1; see #24764.
I should add that this build is happening on an Intel Mac, a MacBook Pro 2,2.
