gettext build depends not working on darwin 6

Description
Just got darwinports (17. Sep). Tried building glib2 which depends on gettext. sudo install glib2 first downloads gettext and installs it and then dies when trying to build glib2 because there's no libiconv present. "port deps gettext" says "no dependencies" even though it says in the Portfile that gettext should depend on libiconv on Darwin 6. I'm using Mac OS X 10.2.8.

Yes, glib2 won't build, but why doesn't "gettext libdeps in libiconv" get me iconv when installing gettext?
