MPlayer build failure on 10.4.11: libx264?

I saw another build problem on Tiger already reported, but the error here looks quite different. There are, in addition, several warnings that could be a cause for concern.

I am trying to build MPlayer +osd +mencoder_extras, using port 1.8.1, on OS X 10.4.11 with Xcode 2.5. I have Apple's X11.app installed.
