There is a beautiful os x reboot if you try to stop cherokee daemon using sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.cherokee.plist command.
The problem os in /opt/local/etc/LaunchDaemons/org.macports.cherokee/cherokee.wrapper file: PIDFILE points to config file.

I ran into this one this morning as well. Any progress on having the fix integrated. The reboot occurs if you stop Cherokee from its admin interface as well. To be clear the machine reboots instantly if you attempt to stop the Cherokee webserver, I'd imagine that's a fairly significant bug with an easy fix.

If a port's maintainer doesn't respond to a ticket and it falls through the cracks like this, you can ping the mailing list, and/or file a Port Abandoned ticket.
