Sorry, my memory was wrong: I can attach files, I just can't modify my original ticket directly. Maybe someone with those rights can delete the superfluous text (i.e. pretty much all of it) from my ticket description?

Yeah, I'd like to, thanks for the offer! I was offered becoming the maintainer of the digiKam 0.10 port I submitted, earlier this year, and declined that. I'm glad someone else is now maintaining the digiKam port.

Claws-mail sounds more manageable to me - at least it compiles within reasonable time on my machine.

But warning: I'm not a big programmer, I don't know much about the way MacPorts works, I only have Mac OS 10.5, and I'll probably stop using MacPorts at some point (when 10.7 is out and 10.5 is not usable anymore). So the claws-mail port should directly also have the "openmaintainer", I guess. My short maintainer name could be "vlp".

Is there anything I have to do next?

Yes, I'd like to do that. But like I said before: "openmaintainer" could be added. So as the new maintainer would I get commit rights to update the claws-mail Portfile to 3.7.5?

I added you as maintainer with openmaintainer in r66412. Thanks! Being a maintainer does not give you commit rights though. You still have to file tickets with patches. See the guide for more information about obtaining commit rights.
