Could we get this Apache Project message queuing server software added to MacPorts.. http://activemq.apache.org/
The latest version, 5.3, can be downloaded here: http://activemq.apache.org/activemq-530-release.html

It would be great if one of you could be listed as maintaienr for this port, at least in addition to openmaintainer. Also I think the dependency on kaffe can be removed. All MacOS X versions come with java and I doubt that activeMQ works with kaffe

As for me, I don't really want to maintain the port as I don't use it myself or have any connection with the project beyond helping out with the portfile writing. I'm not qualified to deal intelligently with any bug reports, for example.

Certainly no objections from me -- I was just following the lead of several other java ports I looked at.

Okay, what about you Brian? I just installed it and noticed that I cannot run it as non-root user due to a permissions issue on the lock file. Do you think that should be fixed?

ActiveMQ seems to store its data in /opt/local/share/java/activemq . That is definitely not the place to store log files, etc.

Here is a portfile that uses the binary distribution. (Thanks to Robert Borkowski for his help!)
