Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))
Need a solid reverse install method built-in MacPorts. Many installs fail due to numerous reasons. If oyu can solve one, then the next failure tends to get you. Very little can be installed in my experinece with 10.5 Leopard to 10.6.3 Snow Leopard. I have attempted to install many little programs using FINK and MacPorts. Either program has its faults - mostly it is just the version incompatibility - typical in open source software... too many little parts that there is no standard or process for keeping everything on par....

10.5 and 10.6 are the OSes that are officially supported by MacPorts, hence most of our ports should work with these OS versions. If things aren't working for you, you either have a problem on your system or you found one of the few ports that aren't working. Please write to macports-users for assistance or file individual tickets for specific problems and provide more information.
Ports can be uninstalled by typing "sudo port uninstall portname". MacPorts itself can be uninstalled following the instructions in the guide.
Note: use either Fink or MacPorts; don't have both installed at the same time as this will cause problems.
