Description
Trying to build avahi initially I got this error:
checking for gdbm_open in -lgdbm... no configure: error: *** libgdbm not found *** shell command " cd "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_net_avahi/work/avahi-0.6.26" && ./configure --prefix=/opt/local --disable-dependency-tracking --disable-autoipd --disable-qt3 --disable-qt4 --disable-mono --disable-monodoc --with-distro=darwin --enable-compat-libdns_sd --disable-gtk3 " returned error 1 Error: Target org.macports.configure returned: configure failure: shell command failed DEBUG: Backtrace: configure failure: shell command failed while executing "$procedure $targetname" Warning: the following items did not execute (for avahi): org.macports.destroot org.macports.configure org.macports.build Log for avahi is at: /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_net_avahi/main.log DEBUG: can not find channel named "debuglog" while executing "tcl::puts debuglog {DEBUG: Starting logging for avahi}" invoked from within "catch "tcl::puts $args"" Error: Unable to upgrade port: 1 To report a bug, see <http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets>
But when I did:
sudo port install gdbm && sudo port install avahi
everything configured and built just fine.

Was the previously active version of gdbm installed using MacPorts >= 1.9? If so, what does
port -v installed gdbm
show?
