Here's the issue. Couldn't find anything in the log.

Please remember to Cc the port's maintainer, and do not set the Milestone field for port tickets.

Tomcat6 has been freshly (r69689) updated to 6.0.28, please try again with that. I don't have a PPC machine handy to test with so don't know if it will help or not.

We should just change the port to extract the compiled binary that Apache provides, there's no need for us to compile it.

Patch welcome to switch the port over. We could use the new port design for a new tomcat7 port also.
