Forgive me if I'm not doing this the right way -- it's the first time I've had occasion to report a bug in a port.

You appear to have a partially completed build, please run sudo port clean openssl
and try again to get a log that starts from the beginning.

Also it looks like you're not actually running MacPorts 1.9, please run sudo port selfupdate
