Ok, I've modified the Portfile to have a true version number.

Thanks, but it still downloaded a distfile called "ripe-whois-latest.tar.gz"; ideally the distfile name should contain the version number if at all possible. I fixed this before committing the port in r71207. I also added an http mirror to the master_sites, because ports that only have ftp master_sites don't get mirrored by the MacPorts distfiles mirrors. I also fixed the destroot to install the documentation files in the usual place. In r71208 I added conflict markers between ripe-whois and the existing whois port. In r71209 I fixed the livecheck.
Note: See
TracTickets for help on using
tickets.
Version "latest" is not ok; the portfile must install a specific version of the software.
