Unstable, test, stable... something Macports deeply needs.

Description
I've run into _many_ problems with Macports in the past couple weeks, including incorrect download servers and circular dependencies. All immediately following a "port selfupdate".
Debian has this concept of unstable, test, and stable releases, where packages make their way from unstable to test to stable and are tested by the community members that opt in to the unstable and test releases.
A similar system for Macports would eliminate these recent problems that seem to be effecting thousands of users.
