Did you run kdeinit4? Is kded4 running? Check using ps or Activity Manager.

Hi Dan.
I carefully completed all post-install steps, as advertised on Kdenlive project's page:
Post-install Run the following commands: % sudo chown -R $USER ~/Library/Preferences/KDE % sudo launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchDaemons/org.freedesktop.dbus-system.plist % sudo chown $USER /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist % launchctl load -w /Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist % open -a kdeinit4
nevertheless, kded4 is not running, and command
open -a kded4 LSOpenFromURLSpec() failed with error -10810.
fails to launch kde4.

I am not 100% sure of those steps. It is hard to truly test this because for a true test I have to blow away most of macports and rebuild it, and frankly I have better things to do. Recently, I did a full reinstall because a full upgrade was not succeeding, and I had trouble with getting kdeinit4 working due to dbus-system. I rebooted, and I think that resolved it. I am not sure. All I know is eventually I got it working, and it is a little mysterious why I needed to reboot. Have you tried rebooting? You can check dbus in the processing listing as well.

You were right. Rebooting my Mac solved the matter. Thank you.
