Description (last modified by jmroot (Joshua Root))
Hello,
I recently tried to build minc-1.4 on my Macbook Pro (OS v. 10.6.3) and in the terminal I received this message.
Error: Target org.macports.build returned: shell command failed Log for minc is at: /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_science_minc/main.log Error: Status 1 encountered during processing. To report a bug, see <http://guide.macports.org/#project.tickets>
I have attached the terminal output and the main.log file that is referenced in the error. I would appreciate it if someone could give me some guidance to solve this issue.
Thank you for your time, Sincerely, Ali

I am sorry but I cannot figure out how to delete one of the files submitted. README.macports and TERMINAL.output are essentially duplicates. README.macports
also contains notes to myself. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Attached is a patch that updates the homepage and master_sites and updates the version to 1.5 (the patch can also be deleted), but it fails with the same error as above. Can we just update to version 2.0.18, which is the latest at this time?

I also tried updating the port to 2.0.18 (patch attached) which fails with the same error.

Here is a message about this problem and a possible solution:

Portfile diff for using minc version 2.1.00
comment:7 Changed 14 years ago by wiking@…
using minc version 2.1.00 will fix the problem with MAX_NC_OPEN being undeclared. Use the attached diff for upgrading your Portfile to use 2.1.00

The minc homepage says "The current stable release of MINC2 is: minc-2.0.18". If 2.1.00 is a development version, we don't want to update the port to that.

well yeah, but it works at least ;) would it be a possibility to add minc-devel port to macports that is 2.1.00?
comment:11 Changed 14 years ago by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt)
That would be possible. However, since minc itself has been so undermaintained so far, I fear a new minc-devel wouldn't get updated either. I would rather update minc to 2.0.18 and apply the fix needed to get it to work with the latest netcdf.

In r76896 I updated minc to 1.5.1 and applied a patch similar to the one they're already using in version 2.1.00 for dealing with the absence of MAX_NC_OPEN.
I'll file a new ticket for the remaining request to update this port to 2.0.x.
