I'm trying to install kde. On my mac with osx 10.6.4 During compiiation the process stops with
---> Building ncurses Error: Target org.macports.build returned: shell command failed
I tried to install ncurses alone but I got the same message.

As reporter, you do not need to Cc yourself.
You should, however, fill in the Port field, and familiarize yourself with WikiFormatting rules.
It might be helpful if you would clean ncurses and try again with parallel building turned off, that way we get a complete log, including the configure phase (which is absent from your log), and in sequential order, so it's easier to compare with a log from a working system. To do this:
sudo port clean ncurses sudo port install ncurses build.jobs=1

Attached a full log file as provided on IRC. But the installation eventually worked for this user after trying multiple times with 'port clean' in between.
