Description
port provides only accepts absolute paths. A patch is attached which fixes this problem.

I do not have control over base/, but I believe this to be an important amendment: many times I've found myself wondering where a certain file came from when providing a relative path to 'port provides' and not getting any answer, I'm sure many others have as well.
Just my two cents....
