Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))
Hello,
I would love to get XMMS going again on OSX, one of my fav Linux applications of all time. I guess the contributers lost the domain name xmms.org and are now using xmms2.org.
The xmms version 1 listed in MacPorts still points to the old site. I cancelled the install, though it may very well have worked.
I would recommend removing XMMS 1 from the MacPorts listing or perhaps using the new site.

Don't trust XMMS.ORG for XMMS1 source code
17 May 2010 12:24 (CEST) by Unknown
Just a brief warning to anyone looking for the XMMS1 source code. Please don't use the code at http://xmms.org since the domain is no longer controlled by the people in the community. Please use http://legacy.xmms2.org instead. For background information you can see the following post by Tobias:

I updated the homepage and master_sites in r73525, and verified that the checksums have not changed.
Thank you for letting us know.
Note that we are still able to trust the code just fine, no matter what site it came from, because MacPorts records checksums of all distfiles of all ports and verifies them. When the xmms port was updated to version 1.2.11 (see #16595) the xmms.org domain was still under the developers' control, so we can trust that the checksums generated at that time are of correct software. And I checked just now that the software downloaded from that site today still has the same checksums, so it is still the same software.
Still, I agree we should update the homepage and download location to the new approved one.
